The IE Domain Registry (IEDR) have announed relaxation of their rules for registering a .ie personal domain name.
Registration of a personal domain name will be available to the public from Wednesday the 31st October, 2007. Up until this period, only those with a Sole Trader Name or other such trading documents could have obtained a .ie domain name under the Personal Trading Name Category.
The IEDR say that the introduction of .ie domain names is as a result of the increased popularity of social networking and blogging sites among individuals who are online.
To authenticate a claim to a personal .ie domain name, you will simply need to provide one of the following examples below:
Irish Passport
Irish Driver's License
Irish Birth Certificate
Irish Utility Bill
As one of the top resellers for the IEDR, we will be offering a discounted rate for .ie personal domain name registrations during this period. .ie Personal Domains will be just €39.
Please note: if you have a Personal Trading Name and would like to secure this before October 31st, please contact us. The IEDR will operate a first-come, first-serve basis for all personal domain names after this 7 week period.
We are taking orders from those who wish to apply for a .ie personal domain name now. As the IEDR will be working on a first-come, first-serve basis, we cannot fully guarantee registration but we hope to attain as many as possible for individuals.
