.UK Right of Registration Release Domains

Elive are a participating Registrar in the .UK ROR Release, starting July 1st.

Up until the 25th June 2019, any holder of a .co.uk domain had the right to register the equivalent .uk domain

Now that this deadline has passed Nominet are releasing the unclaimed domains into the public domain for anyone to register.

From July 1st to 5th , these domains will be released in batches and will be sold on a first come basis. Demand is expected to be high, so even if an order is placed, there is no guarantee of securing the domain.

Should you wish to request a domain, please contact us at info@elive.net with your query , or you can place an order via our website

The batches of domains will be released as per the schedule below:

1st July – Batch 1: Domains beginning 0-9, a-b

2nd July – Batch 2: Domains beginning c-f

3rd July – Batch 3: Domains beginning g-m

4th July – Batch 4: Domains beginning n-s

5th July – Batch 5: Domains beginning t-z

TCP SACK Vulnerabilities

3 TCP SACK Vulnerabilities have been identified in Linux kernels higher than v 2.6.29 and need to be patched immediately.

The vulnerability does not enable privilege escalation, and does not allow an attacker access to any privileged information.

To update, you should run the relevant command on your Linux system to install the updates.

On Redhat/CentOS, issue the commands:
$ sudo yum clean all
$ sudo yum update

For Debian/Ubuntu, issue the commands :
$ sudo apt-get clean
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade

Once completed, you will need to reboot your server.

WorkAround

You can temporarily disable sack until the next reboot by using the following command:

$ echo 0 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_sack

This will allow you to keep your server active until you can schedule a convenient time to do the kernel update and reboot.

Post.ie, coop.ie and aero.ie domains to go on sale for first time this week

  • IE Domain Registry will make the domains available to qualifying trademark holders from 8 May
  • Following this restricted phase, domains that are still available will be open for registration by the general public
  • IE Domain Registry CEO: “The release of these three domains will provide Irish businesses and organisations with an exciting opportunity to improve their brand presence with a memorable and compelling web address.”

Thepost.ie,coop.ieand aero.iedomains will go on sale for the first time from 8 May, IE Domain Registry, the company responsible for managing Ireland’s country domain name has announced.

In the initial “Sunrise Phase” from 8 May–6 June 2019, qualifying trademark holders will be given the chance to register the names.

Domains that are still available after this phase will be made available to members of the general public who meet the standard .ie registration criteria. This phase will provisionally commenceon19 July and remain open for 30 days.

If multiple parties apply for the same domain name in either of these two phases, an auction will be held. The winning bidder will be allowed to register the name.

In the final “General Availability Phase”, the remaining domains will be open to registration through the normal .ie application process.

Further information on the registration process for these names and the release dates is available at www.iedr.ie/upcoming-ie-domain-release/

New opportunities

Post.ie,coop.ieand aero.ie were recently made available following a review of .ie domain registration rules by the IE Domain Registry’s Policy Advisory Committee.

Commenting on the release of the domains, David Curtin, Chief Executive of IE Domain Registry, said:

“The release of these three domains will provide Irish businesses and organisations with an exciting opportunity to improve their brand presence with a memorable and compelling web address.

“The .ie extension remains Ireland’s first choice for an online presence – for a website or an email address. To local customers, it represents trust; to international customers, authenticity. Initiatives like the release of post.ie, coop.ie and aero.ie are a continuation of IE Domain Registry’s work to make the .ie namespace more open and accessible to those with a connection to Ireland. These initiatives will enable more people to connect with communities and customers online, and engage in e-commerce.”

The rules around registering a .ie Domain have opened up today, the 21st March, making it easier and faster than ever to get a .ie domain name.

Previously, you have to prove your claim to the domain name, along with showing a connection to Ireland, but now, the need to prove a claim to the name has been dropped.

This mean thats individual or business with a real connection to Ireland can register any available .ie domain name, on a first come , first served basis.

This will make it easier for sole traders, new businesses and clubs to get their .ie domain name.

“Liberalisation will completely transform the customer’s .ie domain registration experience, allowing them to get online with an identifiably Irish website and email address in less time and with less hassle,” said David Curtin, Chief Executive of IEDR
