Redemption Fee introduced on Expired .ie domains by the .IE Registry – renew early to avoid

Starting on the 1st August 2025, the .IE Registry have begun applying a redemption fee for .ie domains that have not been renewed and have gone past the 45 day Grace period after the expiry date.

When your .ie domain expires, it enters a Grace period for 45 days, during which time, you still only need to pay the annual renewal fee to retain the domain.

On day 45, your domain will enter a Redemption period for 30 days. Renewal is still possible, but an extra charge of €60 + vat will apply, plus the normal renewal fee. Domain Transfers to other registrars are not possible during this phase.

After day 74, your domain then enters Pending Delete for 5 days. Your domain cannot be renewed or transferred, and will expire. It will then be available for anyone else to register.

To avoid extra fees on renewals, we recommend you ensure you renew your domain early. You can renew your .ie domain at any time in your Client Account, for up to 9 years. We have great discounts on multi-year renewals, and E-Live have one of the lowest .ie Domain Renewal Price available today.

Remember, if you have a Card or SEPA payment on file with us, we will attempt auto renewal on payment 10 days before your domain expiry date.
